Dhaka - Sonargaon - Sreemangal - Jaflong/Sylhet - Savar - Dhaka
This is not a classic sightseeing tour — it's a small-group (6-person team) field photography tour focused on documenting human labor, industrial life and everyday rhythm. The route stretches from Dhaka's train stations to the shipyards along the Buriganga River, from Sonargaon's historic Panam City to Sreemangal's tea gardens, from Jaflong's stone and coal sites to Savar's brick kilns, and to Dhaka's laundry areas and ready-made garment workshops — aiming to document Bangladesh's labor culture closely, respectfully, and with proper permissions. Every site visit is planned around pre-confirmed access permits and local contacts, with strict adherence to informed consent and safeguarding principles.
Our tour begins early in the morning with a transfer from the hotel to Tejgaon Train Station, where we capture the morning bustle of suburban trains and life along the rails. We then move on to the historic Sadarghat Port, documenting river transport, porters and heavy boat traffic. After a lunch break, we head to the shipyard area along the Buriganga River to photograph welding, metalwork and industrial portraits. We return to our hotel in the evening.
Early in the morning we head to Sonargaon. After photographing the brick architecture and local life of the historic Panam City, we visit a pre-permitted Jamdani weaving workshop, documenting the handcraft, the rhythm of the loom, and the fine details of the weaving process. After lunch, we travel to a boat-accessible village around the Meghna River to capture family life and the river economy. We return to Dhaka in the evening.
After a long overland journey, we arrive in Sreemangal, taking in agricultural landscapes along the way. After settling into our hotel and lunch, we visit a pre-arranged Khasia/Manipuri settlement, documenting daily life and craft — always on the basis of open consent. In the afternoon, we head to the region's famous tea plantations to photograph the rhythm of leaf-picking in the late-afternoon light. We return to our hotel in the evening.
Early in the morning we head to Jaflong. At a permitted stone-collection and depot site, we photograph stone labor, work intertwined with water, and transport scenes. After a lunch break, we document portering, texture and workflow at a permitted coal or stone logistics site. In the late afternoon we move on to Sylhet city center, capturing riverside scenes in the evening light.
Today is a long transfer day; field stops are determined by the access and security situation the guide confirms the day before. Along the way, at a confirmed stop in the Bhairab/Ashuganj corridor, we have the chance to photograph river logistics and market or roadside labor; where available on site, we also make a brief stop for roadside craft or agricultural processing scenes such as bamboo, iron, matting or grain work. Our goal is to reach Dhaka safely and at a reasonable hour.
We head toward Savar before sunrise. At a pre-permitted primary brick kiln, we photograph mud preparation, molding, carrying and the intense labor around the kiln. After a lunch break and equipment check, we continue at a second permitted kiln, or at different work stations within the same facility. We return to Dhaka in the evening.
Early in the morning we head to a pre-confirmed laundry/washing area, photographing the washing, wringing and drying stages along with labor portraits. After a lunch break, we move to a pre-permitted ready-made garment/textile facility, documenting the rhythm of production and the relationship between machine and worker, in full compliance with workplace rules. We return to our hotel in the evening.
On the last day of our tour, we head to Kamalapur Train Station to photograph the morning passenger rhythm from a safe, permitted distance. We then capture market labor and cargo flow at Kawran Bazar. After returning to the hotel to pack, we transfer to the airport according to our flight time, bringing this intensive documentary photography experience in Bangladesh to a close.

This is a field-intensive photography tour documenting human labor and industrial life; it requires above-average physical endurance and tolerance for long overland journeys. The team is limited to 6 people. Prior written/recorded permission is required to shoot at sites such as brick kilns, shipyards, laundries and ready-made garment production facilities; these sites are never entered without the guide's confirmation. Obtaining clear consent for portraits is essential; local rules and safeguarding principles are strictly followed when photographing children or vulnerable groups. Carrying a raincoat, mask, eye protection and lens-cleaning equipment is recommended at brick kiln, coal and shipyard sites. The daily route and site access are reconfirmed by the guide before departure based on the security situation, weather conditions and permit status; Day 5 (Sylhet-Dhaka) in particular is the most flexible day in the program due to the long transfer.
